1. ADMISSION: REQUIREMENTS
Candidates who are interested to apply need to already hold a university degree equivalent to a second level Italian university degree (Laurea Magistrale/Laurea Specialistica), giving access to doctoral and to postgraduate programmes in the country of issuance.
IMPORTANT: Students enrolled in a second level course of studies (equivalent to a second level Italian university degree - Laurea Magistrale/Laurea Specialistica) may apply for admission to a second level Master programme provided they obtain their degree by the date on which the didactic activities of the Master programme start (January 2025).
All Master classes are taught in English, therefore a further requirement to access the Master Programme is to take and pass an interview meant to assess the candidate’s proficiency with the language. Please consider that only candidates who will be shortlisted based on their qualifications will be invited to participate in the interview.
2. APPLICATION PROCESS
Candidates must enroll online, otherwise their applications will not be considered. Deadline to apply: 15th of October 2024 at 11.59 PM.
In order to apply, please follow all the following steps. If you miss to complete even one of the steps, your application will not be considered.
Step 1: Admission procedure at the University of Trieste
Deadline: 15th of October 2024 at 11.59 PM
1) Connect to the website https://esse3.units.it/Home.do. In case of first-time enrollment at the University of Trieste, complete the registration process. Upon completion of registration, print and keep the memo with the credentials, username and password, because they will be valid for all subsequent access.
2) Once you are logged in your profile follow the instructions at this link, where you can find the step-by-step guide for the admission procedure.
IMPORTANT: at the end of the process, you will be asked to pay the admission fee of €30.00 no later than Thursday, October 15, 2024 using the PagoPa platform only. The registration for the competition for admission to the Master's program is completed with the payment of the admission fee (€ 30.00). Step 2: Admission procedure at the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS
Deadline: 15th of October 2024 at 11.59 PM
Please apply filling the following form by no later than the 15th of October 2024.
Before accessing the online form, you must prepare the following scanned documents, of which you will be asked to upload:
1) a scanned copy of your degrees in a unique PDF file (Bachelor, Master and, if you have it also PhD) - MANDATORY
2) a scanned copy of any certificate proving that you attended any advanced postgraduate specialization courses in a unique PDF file - OPTIONAL
3) a scanned copy of any certificate of attendance to training courses specifically related to Blue Economy in a unique PDF file - OPTIONAL
4) Your CV - MANDATORY. We kindly ask you to follow the structure as follows: 1) education 2) work experience, providing start and end dates for every job position 3) any teaching experience, providing start and end dates for any teaching position 4) any scientific publications 5) any specialization post-graduate courses, providing start and end date 6) any course that you attended on blue economy, providing start and end date 7) languages spoken 8) any other information that you want to add.
5) A scanned copy of your passport - MANDATORY
6) Self-declaration of admission requirements - MANDATORY
7) Declaration of value or diploma supplement (only for foreign degrees) - OPTIONAL AT THIS STAGE, it can be submitted after you receive the communication that your application has been successful. Please be aware that you must submit this document by no later than December 1st 2023.
8) Reference letter specifically written for this Master - OPTIONAL. Please do not include letters if they are not written specifically for this application.
9) A passport size photo (size 35 x 40 mm = 132x151 pixels). Acceptable format is JPEG (.JPG), and the file size must not exceed 2 Mb - MANDATORY.
Please note that false declarations will automatically exclude the applicant, also from future calls.
Step 3 (only for candidates who need a VISA to study in Italy): pre-enrollment on the Universitaly portal
Deadline: 15th of October 2024 at 11.59 PM
Applicants who need a VISA to study in Italy, in addition to the admission procedure, must create an account to access the ministerial portal Universitaly. Once you access your account, please submit a pre-enrollment application entering all required attachments by the deadline of October 15, 2024. The University will review the pre-enrollment applications and, if they appear to have uploaded all the required documents, will confirm their eligibility for admission directly on Universitaly.
Step 4 (only for candidates holding a foreign degree): submission of the declaration of value/ the diploma supplement
Candidates holding a foreign degree obtained in a non-EU country will also need to submit a declaration of value, issued by the relevant Italian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the degree was obtained.
Candidates holding a foreign degree obtained in a EU country need to submit a diploma supplement.
IMPORTANT: Please consider that if you don't have the declaration of value in time for the application you can submit it at a later stage to the Master Secretariat. We suggest that all candidates holding a foreign degree start the process to obtain the declaration of value immediately after they are contacted by the Secretariat on the successful result of their application. Kindly note that in any case the declaration of value (or diploma supplement for foreign degrees obtained in the EU) must be submitted to the Master secretariat by no later than 1st December 2024.
Step 5 (only students who need a VISA to study in Italy): VISA process
If you need a VISA to study in Italy, please start the VISA application process immediately after you receive the communication about the successful result of your application.
Please consider that nor the University of Trieste nor the OGS have any responsibility on the status of your VISA application process.
Upon their arrival in Italy and in any case no later than the deadline for the enrollment, non-EU candidates must show the VISA and the receipt of the residence permit application at the Post Lauream course desk.
3. ADMISSION TEST
The admission procedure is divided into 2 steps:
1) examination of qualifications by a Commission. Candidates who will be shortlisted will be contacted after the 15th of October 2024 (generally we send results in November). You will be contacted even if your application is not successful, so do not worry about sending emails to ask if you have been selected, we will in any case notify you.
2) Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in an interview in English
