Gonéri Le Cozannet holds an engineering degree in Space and Aeronautics (2002) and a PhD in Geography (2016). Since 2006, he has been a researcher at BRGM, the French Geological Survey, within the coastal risks and climate change unit of the risk and prevention department. His research primarily focuses on the impacts of sea-level rise on coastal risks, including erosion and flooding, and on adaptation strategies to reduce these risks.
Gonéri Le Cozannet has co-authored approximately thirty public reports and over a hundred publications in peer-reviewed journals. He served as one of the Lead Authors for Working Group II's contribution to the 6th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which addresses impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability, and was published in 2022. Additionally, he is a member of the French Climate Change Committee and contributed to an expert assessment on insurance and climate change commissioned by the ministries of finance and the environment in 2023.
