The final conference of the CREATE project
On the 15th December 2022 took place the final event of the project CREATE - Climate Refugees Exist: let’s stArt to Talk about it, led by the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS and co-funded by the Central European Initiative - CEI.
The event focused on the topic of climate change as a root cause for migration both from an international and scientific point of view thanks to the contributions of Matteo Valentinuz, Protection Associate, UNHCR and Marco Reale, Researcher expert in Climate Change, OGS.
The discussion was moderated by Sara Tonolo, Professor of International Law, University of Trieste.
The conference also included the presentation of the innovative role-playing game developed within the project. In fact, in order to fulfill the urgent need to include climate refugees in the scientific, diplomatic, social and cultural agendas, OGS decided to tackle this sensitive issue through the unconventional method of a role-playing game, in a print&play version freely downloadable online:

We are very satisfied with the project outcomes and we are willing to continue the project with a second phase in 2023, hoping to have many more chances to play the game with different target audiences!
