Deep Blue stories: Ghada in Italy (remotely)

Deep Blue Story #18| Ghada Neji is a young researcher from Tunisia who run a three-month online traineeship with the National Council of Research – CNR Ismar, Italy. She developed a research study within the framework of Co-EVOLVE project in order to analyse  human activities and natural systems in Djerba island in Tunisia focussing on the sustainable development of tourism sector, environmental protection and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

About her experience she says:

“I had the opportunity to work on the Marine Spatial Planning for sustainable tourism for the pilot area Djerba, Tunisia. I worked remotely with experts and I enhanced my skills in GIS tools and quantitative research analyses. Additionally, I learned new approaches for the assessment of the cumulative anthropogenic pressure in Djerba (Halpern approach).  I met new colleagues and attended the conferences organized by the Co-Evolve4BG parties. It was my pleasure to collaborate with the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM), Marine Environment Laboratory (Tunis, Tunisia) and the CNR-ISMAR (Venice, Italy). I am certain that this experience will widen my horizons and it will have an important impact on my future career”

Ghada is now working as a freelance environmental consultant in Tunisia, and she got the opportunity to be further involved in the Co-Evolve4BG pursuing working on the pilot area (Djerba).

Thank you Ghada for your involvement! Best wishes for your brilliant career!
